2Cr13 Steel - Good Strength and Comprehensive Properties

In the complex field of material selection, it is the common goal of every mechanical design engineer and procurement manager to find a steel that features high strength, good corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness. Today, we will focus on 2Cr13 steel, a martensitic stainless steel widely used in industry in China and even around the world.

1. High Strength of 2Cr13 Steel

As an engineer, I attach great importance to the load-bearing capacity of materials. 2Cr13 steel performs excellently in this regard. Its mechanical properties are significantly improved after quenching and tempering (QT) treatment.

The tensile strength can stably reach above 540 MPa, and the yield strength can exceed 345 MPa.

What do these data mean?

It means that the parts you produce will not easily fracture or deform under heavy loads. Such high strength greatly extends the service life of mechanical components.

For purchasers, a longer service life means lower company costs. It can reduce equipment maintenance and replacement rates by approximately 20%. Without frequent procurement of spare parts, it directly reduces your long-term purchasing budget and makes your procurement work easier and more efficient.

2. Premium Corrosion Resistance of 2Cr13 Material

Although 2Cr13 stainless steel is a martensitic stainless steel, it exhibits good corrosion resistance in specific environments. It contains 12%–14% chromium, which provides excellent corrosion resistance in normal atmospheric conditions, fresh water, steam, and weak organic acids.

Compared with carbon steel, 2Cr13 material offers significantly improved corrosion resistance and can effectively resist rust and surface oxidation. For instance, in humid environments, the corrosion rate of 2Cr13 is more than 70% lower than that of ordinary carbon steel.

This makes it an ideal choice for manufacturing water pump components, valves, tableware, and structural parts requiring moderate corrosion resistance.

3. Excellent Machinability of 2Cr13 Stainless Steel

2Cr13 steel is an extremely machining-friendly material. In its annealed condition, it has low hardness, enabling smooth machining with minimal wear on CNC cutting tools. This solves a major challenge for production supervisors.

With this material, workshop machining efficiency can be easily improved by 15% to 20%, while the cost of expensive cutting tools can be reduced by 10%. Shorter machining cycles mean faster delivery to customers, helping businesses collect final payments sooner. Furthermore, savings on machining costs effectively increase the company’s net profit.

Why Choose 2Cr13 Steel?

✅ 100% Traceable Chemical Composition

Each batch of 2Cr13 material is accompanied by an original factory quality certificate. The chromium content is guaranteed between 12% and 14%. The carbon content is controlled between 0.16% and 0.25%. You can retest on site with a spectrometer.

✅ Various Forms Available in Stock

We have regular stock of 2Cr13 material round bars, flat bars, steel plates and finished machined plates. Annealed condition, pre-hardened condition, quenched and tempered condition are all in stock. Diameter ranges from 10mm to 300mm, thickness ranges from 5mm to 150mm. We basically have whatever size you need.

✅ Free Hardness Test + Cutting Service

If you have doubts about hardness, we can provide third-party inspection reports. We can also perform precision cutting according to your drawings, with tolerance ±0.5mm. It saves you the trouble of cutting materials.

✅ Help You Calculate Costs and Avoid Unnecessary Expenses

As a sales manager, I often say to customers: “The price of 2Cr13 material is very reasonable. Its strength, hardness and corrosion resistance meet the requirements of most mechanical parts. You don’t need to spend more to buy materials with excessive performance.”
